About This Site

I love to read. I think it’s very important for parents to encourage their kids to read early and often. I used to post my book reviews on this site, and you can find them on the Review Index page. Now I use this site to keep track of great reading websites.

Favorite genres are historical mystery, historical fiction, fantasy and science-fiction, adventure, and non-fiction history. I occasionally read romances, biographies and memoirs and contemporary mysteries. I never read horror or erotica.

I own many physical books, as does my husband, thus the title of the blog. We need more shelves in our little house to hold our library. After all, you can never have too many books.

I’m a reader, not a collector, but I keep books I really enjoy and know I will read again. I mostly listen to audiobooks these days, but prefer paperbacks to hardcovers, and read ebooks using the Kindle app on my iPad.

I am a fairly voracious reader and often have two or three books going at the same time (as long as they’re from different genres). I like to read series books in order. I don’t skip ahead and I hate spoilers. If I don’t like a book, I don’t finish it for the sake of finishing it—I move on to another.

I should own stock in Amazon.com . . . I love Half Price Books, Thrift Books, and Audible.com. Some of my favorite sources of books are listed on My Favorite Book Links.

As an editor, I must force myself to ignore poor grammar and convoluted prose. I believe if an author puts their blood, sweat, and tears into a book, they should care enough about the results to have it edited professionally.

I am a cover snob, I admit it. I love a good book cover and I know what makes one great. Check this Pinterest board to see which covers I admire. It’s just one of my boards about books.

As regards copyright, I own this site with the exceptions of the book cover graphic files, which belong to the individual publishers, authors, and retailers, and of the code of the widgets from various services.
